to speak at the New Hampshire Community Technical College Berlin
and discuss his research with community leaders, planners, politicians,
and the concerned public.

On Wednesday, August 9, 2006, Dr. Hooks traveled to Berlin, and gave a talk titled:" Prisons and Jobs: Does a New Prison Help or Hurt?"

After Mr. Hook's spoke, he graciously facilitated many questions and statements from very frustrated citizens. The small, and sometimes passionate audience learned quite a bit about the difference between solid, scientific, peer reviewed research, and research being used by our Congressional delegation and the FBOP, that is based on bias sampling.

Sadly, only two elected officials (out of more than 50 invited) were willing to listen and participate with open discussion.   It would appear that most of our elected officials have no need for the truth or unrefutable scientific research.
